Box Score ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - Eastern Women's Tennis defeated visiting FDU-Florham on Monday afternoon 6-3. The Eagles took two of the three doubles matches to take a 2-1 advantage into the singles matches going onto win four of six. 

Kelly Archibald and Laura Thomas claimed he first doubles match cruising to an 8-1 victory. In the second doubles, match Emma Paugh and Amanda Riiff won as well by the final score of 8-1. 

"Both pairings played great matches controlling the tempo and taking advantage of their opportunities," said Head Coach Mark Spangler. "They served well and were accurate with their placement." 

In the first singles match after dropping the opening set 2-6, Paugh rallied back to win the second set 6-2, and then the tie-breaker 10-2. "Emma really battled and earned that win," continued Spangler. "She fought hard and served well throughout the match. 

Riiff had the clinching match winning the third singles match in straight sets 6-1, 6-3. "Amanda played well today and did a great job throughout her match of dictating tempo," stated Spangler. "Her match sealed the win for us against a good FDU-Florham team." 

"Our top four girls were vital for us today as they each won their match," continued Spangler. "They were leaders for us today, and we will need them throughout this week as we play some tough opponents." 

Eastern travels to Lancaster Bible on April 12th for a 2:15 pm match.
