GRANTHAM, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Basketball shot only 33 percent from the floor and fell 88-55 at Messiah College. The host Falcons established an early lead and built on it as their starters made 24-of-32 shots in the win.
Early foul-trouble put the Eagles in a tough spot against the bigger Falcons.
Emily Lavin picked up her second foul 157 seconds into the game. She returned for a minute-and-a-half in the second period before picking up her third foul. The Eagles trailed by 21 when she left the game. Without Lavin's presence in the post, the Eagles made only 22 percent of their first-half shots and trailed 42-19 at the break.
Brianna Young-Harris had six points at the intermission.
The Eagles found a little better offensive rhythm in the third quarter, but the Messiah offense started to roll. The Falcons (4-0) scored on 13 of their first 15 possessions of the second half to build a 69-32 edge.
Lavin finished with 14 points,a dn Amanda Riff added 11.
Regie Robinson had eight points and ten rebounds. Kaitlyn Hoff paced five Falcons in double-figures with 22.
The Eagles (3-1) will break for Thanksgiving and will return to action in their home-opener against Immaculata University on Wednsday, Nov. 30th.
