Women's Tennis Rolls Past Neumann

Box Score ASTON, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Tennis earned a decisive 9-0 win at Neumann in a final tune-up leading into this weekend's MAC Individual Championships. The Eagles won all six singles matches in straight sets.

Amanda Riiff and Emma Paugh combined for an 8-4 win at the top doubles spot. Riiff did not drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win at Second singles. Paugh was nearly as efficient with a 6-1, 6-2 result in her singles test.

"Emma played really well from the baseline," Head Coach Mark Spangler said of his top singles player. " The girl she was playing against was quite talented. There were winners hit on both sides in that match, and it was good to see Emma earn points and keep the pressure on her."

Olivia Weaver and Lauren Good won at second doubles and fourth and fifth singles respectively. Good only dropped a single game in her singles match.

"Our rookies showed a little more confidence," Spangler continued. "Lauren and Olivia picked up their first collegiate wins. They seemed to have shaken off the nervousness they had in the first match."

Leslie Henry won at third singles and combined with Taylor Weirch to win at third doubles. Emily Thomas won 6-0, 6-1 in the final singles match of the afternoon.

The Eagles will play at the MAC Individual Championships this weekend.
