ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - Eastern Field Hockey used four first-half goals to top the visiting Manhattanville College Valiants 5-0 on senior day. The No. 19 Eagles (11-4, 5-1 MAC Freedom) claimed a spot in the MAC Freedom Tournament with the win. Prior to the match the squad honored seniors
Danielle Frasca,
Lauren Gay,
Jennifer O'Neill,
Megan Bolton, and
Alyssa Rowe.
Frasca scored from close range in the 17th minute to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Gay made a nice move and a solid pass through traffic to earn the assist.
In the 22nd minute, Macey Talhem doubled the Eastern lead with a good finish from a tough angle. The freshman forward outdueled her mark for a rebound to the left side of the goal and lifted it over the sliding Manhattanville goalie for her first of the afternoon. Moments later,
Gina Miller scored from the other side of the net on a rebound of a Frasca shot to put the Eagles up 3-0.
Not satisfied with the lead, the Eagles kept the offensive pressure on. In the 29th minute
Jessica Kinzler dribbled through the Manhattanville defense and found Haylee Wood sitting on the back post for a tap-in goal. The goal was the first of Wood's career. Eastern built the 4-0 halftime lead with a 17-3 edge in first-half shots and a 9-2 edge in penalty corners.

Camrin Azzarano said of the win "Coming off of the tough loss on Wednesday, we knew we needed to be resilient. As a team, we were very hard on ourselves and we knew we had things to work on coming into today's game. The girls rose to the challenge and found their passing game back. We played excellent pressure defense as well."
Eastern tallied its final goal of the match in the 43rd minute. Kinzler again created the chance. The junior forward carried the ball through the Valiants' defense and played a beautiful pass across the goal mouth. Talhem was in the right spot and converted to give the Eagles the 5-0 lead.
Azzarano went on to say "Today marked our tenth player recording a goal this season. Out of a roster of 14 active field players that is impressive. It is an example of how these girls are striving to work for each other to accomplish our goals. I am so proud of our five seniors who we honored today. "
The Eagles held a 21-7 shot advantage and a 16-4 penalty corner advantage.
Nicole Berger Jennifer O'Neill split the shutout in goal for the Eagles.
Eastern will host Delaware Valley University on Oct. 27th at 3:30 PM.
