HILTON HEAD, S.C.--Eastern University Women's Lacrosse dropped its spring break game to Muhlenberg College on Tuesday afternoon.
The Eagles trailed by one at halftime and fell to 0-2 in the season with the 13-10 loss.
For the second game in a row, the Eagles got on the score board first and it was Courtney Reinhold that scored the opening goal again. Eastern led 3-2 when Muhelnberg rattled off five straight goals. Just before halftime Eastern trailed 8-6 until freshman Sarah Blaylock scored a critical goal with 32 seconds left to keep the game close and give Eastern some confidence and momentum going into the half.
And just like the first half, the Eagles scored first in the second half, but also allowed Muhlenberg to score five straight goals again. The Eagles began to make a comeback, getting back two goals late. However, the Eagles ran out of time before being able to get any closer than 13-10. Eastern's coaching staff was pleased with the way the players were able to collect themselves and not give up towards the end of the game. They would like to see the number of turnovers decrease, since the turnovers led directly to the long stretches of goals scored. The coaches commented on the play of the freshmen once again, especially the play of Sara Blaylock with her four goals.
For Eastern, Reinhold and Jocelyn Paul scored twice, and Shannon Wilcox and Suzannah McNamara each scored once.
The Eagles will play at Swarthmore on Tuesday, March 13 at 7 pm.
