SWARTHMORE, Pa.-Eastern University Women's Lacrosse grabbed
a 1-0 lead only seconds into the contest at Swarthmore, but the host
Garnet broke open a 2-2 game with seven straight goals on the way to a
17-6 win.
The loss is the third straight to a Centennial
Conference school for the young Eagles (0-3), who will face one of the
tougher non-league schedules available before starting Freedom
Conference play at Wilkes on April 5th.
Jocelyn Paul opened the
scoring on an assist from fellow first-year Shannon Wilcox 49 seconds
into the contest. The Garnet answered with two goals before Allie
Gauthier tucked away an unassisted goal to level the score six minutes
into the game.
Swarthmore (2-1) used a seven-goal burst to build a
9-2 lead before Allie Fultz set up Kendall Rood with just over six
minutes remaining in the half. The Garnet responded with three goals
before the break to hold a 13-3 lead at intermission.
The Eagles
outscored the Garnet 4-to-3 in the second half as Paul, Courtney
Reinhold, Sara Blaylock, and Angie Kochan each scored.
The Eagles continue their tour of the Centennial Conference with another away game at Haverford College next Wednesday.
