ST. DAVIDS, Pa.--Eastern Volleyball served 19 aces in a decisive 25-7, 25-5, 25-13 win over the King's College Monarchs Tuesday night.
The Eagles improved to 6-0 in the Freedom Conference (20-4 overall) with the win.
Eastern's serve attack proved to be too much for King's to handle as the Eagles served 19 aces. Eastern's Kearby Benak served for eight aces and finished with a team high nine kills. Benak, with 19 attacks, was one of four Eastern players to make nine or more attacks. Benak's strong .421 hitting percentage was actually the lowest of those four as Lauren Sproles hit .600 (seven kills), Rachel Wenger hit .556 (six kills), and Katrina Pisch hit .444 (five kills).
As a team, the Eagles recorded 35 kills with six errors on 71 attacks for a hitting percentage of .408. Tuesday's performance raises their season percentage to .277.
Setters Rikki Schlager and Amy Guarino split the setting load with Guarino earning 16 assists and Schlager 14. Schlager also led the Eagles in digs with seven and added four aces.
Eastern hits the road for seven straight away games before returning home to host the Freedom Conference semifinals on Oct. 31 at 7 p.m. In that road trip the Eagles must face perennial volleyball powers Heidelburg University, Emory University and Juniata College.
