PAC series against Marywood. The Eagles put together a two-run rally in the sixth inning of game one to earn a 3-2 win. A walk-off home run in the seventh gave the host Chargers the win in game two.
Kenny Long pitched five solid innings to earn the win in game one. Kurt Kebaugh scored an unearned run in the first to give the Eagles a short-lived lead in the opener. The Chargers tied the game with a walk and a double in the bottom of the inning. A solo home run to lead off the bottom of the third put the Eagles down 2-1.
Long had to work out of a bases-loaded one-out jam in the bottom of the sixth. The senior right-hander induced a ground ball to a drawn-in infield for a force at home, and then struck out the final batter he would face on the day. The Eagles put together three straight singles to open the sixth. Kebaugh scored his second run of the day on a Davis Murray single. With two out and two on, the responsibility fell on Bill Brim to knock in the eventual game winner. Brim came through with a single to left to drive in Murray.
Paul Sinclair struck out three batters in the final two innings to earn the save.
Game two did not go as well for the Eagles. Playing from behind for much of the second game, Eastern took a lead with a four run sixth inning that featured just one hit. That hit, a Mike Santello homer, put the Eagles up 8-5. The home run is the second baseman's third of the year. The Chargers trimmed the deficit to 8-6 in the bottom of the inning.
Lancaster Bible put together the game winning rally in the seventh. After a run-scoring double cut the Eastern lead to 8-7 and a single tied the game, the Charger's TJ Horn hit his eighth home run of the year to end game two.
The Eagles return to action at Marywood University on Friday afternoon.
