picture in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference. The Cyclones scored six two-out runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to erase a 5-1 lead and emerge with a 7-5 victory and the series win. The Eagles have one PAC series left with Marywood. With today's loss, the Eagles will, in all likelihood, need to sweep that series to have a chance for the playoffs.
After neither team scored in the first, Davis Murray doubled to lead off the second. The Eastern shortstop then advanced to third on a Ryan Doran Sacrifice and scored on a ground ball to third by John Montague. After a Centenary pitching change, Ryan Polk picked up an RBI single The Eagles then loaded the bases for Kurt Kebaugh who reached first and drove in a run when he was hit by a pitch. The inning ended with a strikeout.
Andrew Reynolds continued to keep the Cyclone hitters off balance, and the Eagles built a 5-0 lead with another rally in the third inning. Montague reached on an error and advanced to third when Doran cracked a one-out double. Polk drove in a pair of runs with a double. The first year third baseman was out at third trying to put himself in position to score on a fly ball.
From that point on, the Eastern bats went quiet. Centenary picked up a single run on a pair of hits in the sixth. The seventh inning started out simply enough, but after two outs in the bottom of the inning, the Cyclones rapped six hits for a six-run rally. Reynolds, who had been stretched to his longest outing of the year, left the game with his team leading 5-3 and the bases loaded. Each of those runners scored as the Cyclones knocked a couple more hits.
The Eagles return to action with a non-conference doubleheader against Lancaster Bible this Saturday. They will then have a week to get their arms rested for the final series with Marywood.
