Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

March 20: Women's Lacrosse Beats Widener 15-8

in a windy non-conference game Thursday. Kim Campbell made 17 saves, including 12 in the second half to help the Eagles to a 15-8 win.

The game started with a flurry of goals early. Katie Choquette started the scoring early when she collected the opening draw and tucked in a low shot just eight seconds into the game. Erin Reimel collected her first of four goals on the afternoon less than 90 seconds later. Widener's Jackie Elliot finished a nice pass from Tara Krasley on a free position attempt less than 30 seconds later to cut the Eastern lead to 2-1. Sarah Hager then answered for the Eagles with a free position goal of her own with 26;12 showing on the clock.

Anne Dietrich came into the game and in very little time made her way to the eight meter stripe. Dietrich finished her attempt for her second goal of the year. After Krasley scored at the other end for the Pride, Dietrich started a run of four Eastern goals heading into the break. Dietrich took a pass from Jessie Basch on the left edge of the crease and after a strong drive toward goal finished her shot despite a hard check that drew a pair of flags.

First year midfielder Katie Maguire scored at the 14 minute mark on a nifty run into the crease and a backhanded shot that slid into the low corner of the goal. Reimel then collected her second of the day on a Jessie Basch helper. Basch  scored her first of the day on the Eagles' third free position goal of the afternoon with just over nine minutes to play in the period.  Eastern out-shot their guests 17-8 in the first half.

Grace Griffith picked up her first of the day in the opening seconds of the second half to increase the lead to 9-2. After a pair of Widener goals, Eastern Head Coach Camrin Azzarano took a time-out and challenged her team to take control of the game. Basch answered when after controlling the draw, the junior took the ball in deep and after overpowering a pair of defenders popped in her fifth goal of the year to spark the Eagles on a 4-0 run. Reimel scored her third of the game, and Basch finished her hat trick just minutes later. The run closed with Basch setting up Griffith for a 13-4 lead.

The Pride chipped away with a pair of goals, but the Eagles again scored off the draw when Choquette collected another long pull and set up Erin Fries. Elliot led the Pride with three goals and an assist on the afternoon.

Eastern, who played today without a pair of starters and with several other nagging injuries, will have the holiday weekend to recover before taking on the  4th ranked Lions of The College on New Jersey in Trenton on Tuesday. That game will start at 7:00 pm.
