Conference win. The Eagles took a two goal lead into the half and broke open the game with a pair of goals just moments after the break.
Fifteen minutes into the match, Gross tucked home a rebound for his third goal of the year. Though Eastern enjoyed a 13-1 edge in shots for the opening period, the second goal did not come until Fry connected in the 35th minute.
Despite the two goal lead at the break, the Eastern staff wanted to see their team step things up for the second frame. Coach Wagner's charges responded with two goals in a 37 second span to secure the result. Ryan Castle started the scoring when he cleaned up a loose ball in front of the net. Fry then picked up his second of the day when Gross set him up with a nice slotted ball through traffic. Fry calmly tucked the ball away for his team-best 8th goal of the year.
The Eagles then really started to gain rhythm in the attack. Head Coach Mark Wagner said of his team's effort, "we did a much better job being patient and keeping possession as the game progressed. Once we started to swing the ball quickly, the quality of our chances improved."
First year forward Josh Martin took advantage of a chance in the 68th minute to scored his first career goal. Five minutes later, Martin set up Gross for the final tally of the day. Martin found his way behind the Delaware Valley back line and cut a cross back to the to the top of the six yard box. Gross met the pass and knocked home his second of the day.
The Eagles level their league record at 1-1-1 and improve to 8-5-1 overall. Michael Dorsch started the game in goal for the Eagles and recorded one save. John Crowder completed the shut out.
