In June of 2025, Provost Dr. Kent Sparks announced to the Eastern Community that Brian Bingaman would serve the University as INterim Athletic Director. Bingaman will look to build on the work done by Eric McNelley. In McNelley's seven years in charge, Eastern's Athletic Department grew in size, support, and facilities. Bingaman has been an active participant in that growth over the past five years.Â
Brian Bingaman first served the University as the first Associate Athletic Director for Performance, Health and Wellness and Game Management. In that role, he developed programs for coordinating student-athlete wellness initiatives. He oversaw staffing, maintenance, and development for Eastern's fitness facility and provided leadership in strength and conditioning for all Eastern's Athletic Programs.Â
Bingaman provided leadership in developing and implementing policies as Eastern returned to competition following COVID.Â
In his Associate AD role, Bingaman was active in leading hiring committees and overseeing facilities improvements. He was influential in building an infrastructure for the successful arrival of football.Â
Bingaman bought 17 years of experience in strength and conditioning roles at the Division I level. He came to Eastern from Saint Joseph's University where he served since 2011. Before that time, he led strength and conditioning at LaSalle University and worked at both Duquense and Penn State. While a graduate assistant at Penn State, he worked with that Football Program.
Bingaman was an All-American Football player at Bloomsburg and has a Master's Degree from Penn State. He is a Member of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches association (CSCCa). He is active in his community as he works with youth wrestling and football programs.Â
