ST. DAVIDS, Pa.—
CJ Summa scored three times and
Karlee Howard added two goals and an assist as the Eagles celebrated Senior Day with a 7-0 win over the Lancaster Bible College Chargers.
Christina Unger made six stops in goal to pick up the win on her senior day.
The Eagles (7-1) scored twice in the run of play in the first quarter. Both times
Ryhanna Ridgeway played provider. Almost eleven minutes in, Howard earned the circle on the right side and rolled a pass to the near post. Ridgeway met the pass and moved it toward the back post where Summa slammed in her first of the day from close range. Three minutes later
Cameron Brancato slid a ball up the right sideline. Ridgeway met the pass on the run, earned the circle and slipped another pass to the middle. Summa moved the ball across her body and slapped in a reverse-stick effort for her sixth of the year.
Four minutes into the second, Brancato set up Howard with a good feed from the right side. Less than a minute later, Brynnne Miller stole a ball near the top of the circle, beat a defender and fed the circle. Howard received it cleanly and fed a slick pass to a darting Ridgeway for a 4-0 lead that stood until halftime. Eastern had a 12-3 edge in first half shots. For the final eight minutes of the first half and nearly all of the second half, the wind and rain kicked up.
All four first-half goals came out of regular play. The Eagles had possession around the circle throughout, but they were not able to convert on any of their four penalty corners.
That changed in the second half. Summa completed her hat trick with a beautiful aerial shot on an insert from
Megan Possinger in the third. Possinger then finished off a beautifully executed corner in the fourth. After the insert went through Summa and Howard, it came back to
Alyssa Caldini 12 yards from goal. The senior defender ripped a one-time toward the post. Possinger met it and slammed it home for her first career tally.
Howard finished the scoring with a dribbling effort with 10 minutes to play.
Before the game, the Eagles honored Caldini, Howard, Unger, and Miller for their contribution to the program. The Eagles are at Stockton on Wednesday night and will start into league play next weekend at York.
