ST. DAVIDS, Pa.— Twelve different Eastern University Men's Lacrosse players scored goals as the Eagles closed out their home slate with a 29-6 MAC Commonwealth win over the Albright College Lions.
Joshua Jordan led the way for the Eagles with four goals and four assists and
Benjamin Souder won 18 of 20 faceoffs.
With the win, the Eagles (4-12, 3-3) will play what amounts to a play-in game at Hood on Saturday. Though the Eagles dominated possession early, they scored only one time, an unassisted tally by Jordan, in the opening seven minutes of action.
With his team in possession but looking less than stellar, Head Coach
Colin Piper took a time out to talk with his offense. The Eagles responded with better shot selection and four goals in the next four minutes.
Brett Williamson scored his first of five on the day with 7:44 on the clock. Thirty-seven second later,
Andrew Collins tucked home an inside shot on a nice pass from
Brett Gougler. Collins finished the day with four goals and two helpers. Jordan and Williamson then each dropped in their second of the day for a 5-0 lead with 4:16 on the clock. After Collins fed Williamson for another tally, the Lions broke through with their first with 90 seconds on the clock.
Levi Sauder capped the quarter with his first of four on the day. The Eagles had a 20-6 edge in first quarter shots.
The Eagles also scored the first six goals of the second quarter.
Nicholas Howes scored the final goal of the frame for a 14-2 halftime edge.
The short-handed Lions (3-13, 0-6) scored three times against Eastern's reserves in the third quarter, but the fresher Eagles dominated the faceoff dot and scored five times to keep the lead comfortable.
Noah Booth and Aiden Hill each scored their first of two on the afternoon in the third.
Throughout the year, including this last weekend, the Eastern offensive unit has lost players to injury. Without much depth, the Eagles ran with a mix of starters and reserves on offense. Benjamin SOuder and
Jason Wallace each scored their first career goals in the fourth.
Charlie Harrison won 11-of-18 with seven ground balls at the faceoff dot. Benjamin SOuder grabbed 12 ground balls. The Eagles put 39 shots on frame in the game.
Eastern and Hood will play at noon on Saturday.
