Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Stopped by Alvernia

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.— Eastern University Women's Lacrosse battled both the visiting Alvernia University Golden Wolves and the unseasonably warm weather for the full match but fell, 13-7. Gracie Horton scored four times, and Tori Benjamin made 13 stops, but the Eagles were not able to recover from a 7-0 run by the guests to close the half.

With temperatures near 90 and the sun still high in the sky, the Eagles started right with the Golden Wolves. Alvernia scored the first two goals, but Moragn Wallace caught a ball in traffic from Horton and dunked it home to close the gap to a single goal. Alvernia answered almost immediately, but the Eagles slowed things down and Horton bounced in a free-position goal to close the gap to 3-2.

Including two goals right after Horton's tally, Alvernia scored the final three goals of the first quarter and all four goals in the second. Benjamin made six of her stops in the second quarter.

After halftime, the sun dropped a little and breeze kicked up. The Eagles were mor3e effective in the clear and had more of the ball and closed the 10-2 deficit with a 3-to-1 quarter. The Golden Wolves scored first before Natalia WIlloughby put in two in close succession and Horton put away another free-position strike with time ticking down.

Both teams scored twice in the fourth. Alvernia goalie Addision Bolz made seven stops.

The Eagles (4-9, 0-4) are at Messiah on Saturday and Albright on on Wednesday before finishing the year at home against Hood.
