Flag Runs Past Mercy in ECAC Match

DOBBS FERRY , N.Y.— Eastern University Falg Football intercepted six passes and held the host Mercy University Mavericks to only 31 yards in the air in claiming a 16th win over the year. Kira Green threw for four touchdowns and ran for one more as the Eagles won 55-6.

With a huge set of games coming up on the weekend, the Eagles were sharp from the jump in today's ECAC challenge at Mercy. They scored four times in the first quarter and added two more in the second quarter. After the Mavericks scored once in the third, the Eagles broke through with two more in the fourth.

Eastern converted 7-of-8 extra points in the match-up. Jeriyah Johnson, who picked off two balls on defense. had two more touchdowns in her six catches. Ayianna Ridgeway and Damiyae Moyet caught a ten-yard pass for a score. Kyla Massenberg ran for 38 yards and three scores.

The Eagles will travel to Penn State Schuylkill for a long day of football this weekend. They will play the host Lions and Wagner College in ECAC action and will take on Marymount University with the top spot in the Atlantic East on the line. If the Eagles beat Marymount, they will be slated to host the Championships on April 25. Marymount is also an ECAC foe. Wagner is currently unbeaten in ECAC play.
