BOSTON— With just a few days before the 2026 Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships, Eastern University Track and FIeld had three individuals within range of qualifying for the event.
Savana Dodd,
Jeric Lewis and
Ian Hopkins traveled to Boston to try to improve their marks and earn qualification at the Tufts Last Chance Meet.
All three Eagles performed well, but none were able to improve on existing marks. Each will now shift focus to the outdoor season
For Dodd, the shift will involve adding Hammer and Discus to her shot. The junior nursing major set program marks in the Shot with a 13.42 meter toss and in the Weight Throw with a 16.57 meter effort. Her mark in the shot was about eight inches from being a national mark and she was 28th overall coming into today. She won the event at Tufts but her 13.13 did not surpass her mark from the MAC Championships. All three of her legal efforts in the Weight would have been PR's at the beginning of the year, but she could not improve on her existing best and finished sixth.
Ian Hopkins qualified for finals in the 60 Meter Hurdles, but he could not come in under the 8.22 time he set earlier in the year. That time has him outside qualifying by just a tenth of a second. He will shift to the longer 110 Hurdles outside.
Jeric Lewis started the day about three inches short of a qualifying mark in the Triple Jump. He jumped well enough to finish second with a 14.24 meter effort, but that mark was short of his season-best mark.
Eastern Men's and Women's Track and Field will compete again in two weeks.
