HACKETTSTOWN, N.J.— With the winds up, Eastern University Flag Football relied on defense and the run game to secure a pair of wins in a tri-match hosted by Centenary College. The Eagles ran for 151 yards and four scores in a 40-6 win over Chestnut Hill in the opener, and they got two more rushing touchdowns in a wild 49-25 victory over the host Cyclones.
Eastern (9-1) held the Griffins to two rushing yards in the opener.
Kira Green threw for 103 yards and a touchdown to
Damiyae Moyet.
Kyla Massenburg rushed for three scores and
Jeriyah Johnson ran in another ball. On defense, the Eagles got interceptions from
Stephanie White and
Tiara Bassett.
In the game against the Cyclones, Massenburg was a force on defense. She grabbed 14 flags in the game.
The Eagles scored the first 34 points of the contest and held off a late push from the hosts to secure their ninth win of the year and the season series with Centenary.
In the nightcap, Green completed 15-of-19 for three more touchdowns and 227 yards. She now hads 32 passing touchdowns and 1865 yards through 10 games.
The Eagles will host Mercy University in an ECAC game on Tuesday before hosting an Atlantic East tri-match on Thursday.
