HOBOKEN, N.J. - Eastern Men's Volleyball won the first set against No. 4 Stevens on Wednesday, but dropped the final three in a four set loss to the Ducks on Wednesday night.
Kaodi Wokocha finished with 10 kills, while
Connor Tucholski and
Colby Arvesen each finished with eight.
The Eagles finished with 12 kills on 30 swings in the opening set, coming away with a score of 25-20. The two teams traded points early, before the Eagles used a 5-1 run, which included a kill from
Landon Mattiace to go up 10-7. The Eagles did not lose the lead the rest of the set. With the set tied at 17-17, the Eagles used a kill from Wokocha and two in a row from Tucholski to go up 20-17, and scored five of the last seven points to grab the first set win. Tucholski and Arvesen recorded kills to help secure the victory.
The Ducks scored eight of the first nine points to ultimately tied the match at 1-1 with a 25-12 win in set two. The Eagles were competitive in the final two sets, but fell 25-21 and 25-19. Eastern led 3-1 early in the third set and had a 16-13 late. However, the Ducks went on a 11-5 run to take a 2-1 lead. Wokocha finished with four kills in the set. Stevens grabbed a 5-2 lead early in the fourth set and never trailed, securing the four-set win.
Mattiace and
Ronan Landis combined for 10 blocks, while Landis orchestrated the offense with 35 assists. Wokocha and Arvesen combined for 19 digs.
Eastern (9-12, 1-2) will be back in action on the road on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
