UNIVERSITY PARK AND HAVERFORD, Pa. - In its final tune-up before the 2026 MAC Indoor Championships, Eastern Men's Track and Field competed at the Penn State Tune-Up and the Keogh Invitational on Friday.
Ian Hopkins broke his own 60m record by running his best race of the winter.
Hopkins broke his own program record he set back in Eastern's first meet, finishing first on Friday with a time of 8:22. Hopkins is the best athlete in the MAC in the event.
Keyon Jones also set a new PR and still ranks seconds in program history with a time of 8.38.
In the 60m, first-year
Jahari Brown set a new PR with a first-place finish with a time of 6.97. Brown ranks third in program history in the event.
Josiah Cureton and
Jason Bateman each finished in 7.18, and first-year
David Oikelome reached the No. 8 spot with a PR of 7.21.
Ryle Mellinger and
Ayden Parker also recorded PRs in the 800m and the Shot Put, respectively. Mellinger remained No. 3 in program history with a time of 1:57.30. Parker recorded his best throw as an Eagle, finishing fourth with a career-best toss of 12.99m.
In the 4x200m relay,
Brock Brunson, Jones, Cureton, and Brown placed first with a time of 1:31.90 - the second-fastest time in program history.
Robert Walton had Eastern's best finish at Penn State, finishing fifth in the 800m with a time of 1:54.73.
Eastern will be back in action next weekend for the 2026 MAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
