HAVERFORD, Pa.– Eastern University opened its 2025 campaign with a tough 5-0  road loss to a strong Haverford College side. Angelina Catania finished with 22 saves in goal.

Catania and her defenders stood their ground early against an onslaught of pressure that resulted in five penalty corners anda. penalty stroke in the opening seven minutes.  The Fords broke through in the ninth minute. Neveah Greene stopped an initial shot from close range for a defensive save, but Haverford's Louisa Coughlin tucked home the rebound for the 1-0 edge.

The Fords doubled their lead in the 22nd minute and finished the first half with a 2-0 lead and a 10-0 edge in penalty corners.

Though the Eagles limited Haverford to just a single penalty corner in the third period, the hosts took advantage of their opportunities with two more goals. Haverford scored a final goal midway through the fourth quarter.

Abby Hakes took pair of late penalty corners for the Eagles, but Haverford goalie Steph Ionescu turned away a shot from CJ Summa to secure the shutout.
