ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – Eastern University Women's Lacrosse celebrated the program's two seniors before the team's home test against the Stevenson University Mustangs. The Eagles struggled to find offense against a deep Mustang squad and fell 22-1.
Eastern's two seniors,
Lauren Young and
Sammie Voelker, are both transfers from Cabrini. The duo have brought stability to a young Eastern defense that has taken big steps forward this spring.
While the Eagles have taken big steps forward, the opening quarter showed that there are more steps to take to pull even with the top teams in the MAC Commonwealth. The Mustangs controlled possession early and led 9-0 after one quarter.
When the Mustangs brought in some reserves, the drop-off in skill was negligible relative to the freshness of the substitutes legs.
Morgan Wallace scored on a free position shot for Eastern's only goal of the afternoon.
The Eagles (2-7, 0-2) have another tough test this coming Wednesday when they will host the Messiah University Falcons.
