ST. DAVIDS, Pa.— Eastern University Men's Tennis found a break in the weather for their non-league test against the Muhlenberg College Mules (9-2). The Eagles won at third doubles but were unable to secure a point in the 7-0 loss.
Ethan Goonewardene and Josh Pavao ground out a 7-5 win in doubles, but the Eagles lost the first two doubles matches by identical 6-2 scores and the visitors secured the first point of the match.
After dropping the opening set at fourth singles, Goonewardene extended his match with a 6-2 win in his second set. He dropped the super-tiebreaker by a 10-7 score.
Jeffrey Day had a very competitive match at the top spot in the order. He lost the opening set 6-4 before falling 6-2 in the second.
The Eagles (3-9) will return to MAC Commonwealth play for a home match against York College on Saturday.
