CHESTER, Pa.— In the team's final midweek game of the year, Eastern University Women's Lacrosse dropped a physical test at Widener. The Pride opened up an early lead and held on to win 20-3.
The Eagles came into the game down two injured regulars. The game, which would have presented a tough challenge at full strength, gave the Eagles and even bigger test without a full complement of players. The Eagles won five draws in the first half, but the aggressive Widener ride kept the Eagles from generating multiple chances. The Eagles were only 1-of-8 on clears in the first half.
Natalia Willoughby broke through for the Eagles with a free position goal late in the third. She added a goal from Abbey Hakes in with nine minutes left in the fourth.
Gracie Horton scored Eastern's final goal on a pass from Willoughby.
The Eagles will finish the year at Hood on Saturday.
