READING, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Lacrosse battled throughout, but dropped a 16-5 MAC Commonwealth decision at Alvernia University.
Morgan Wallace had a goal and two assists and
Natalia Willoughby scored twice in the loss.
The Golden Wolves (3-11, 1-3) jumped to an early lead. Though the Eagles won three of the seven first-quarter draws, the hosts finished the quarter with a 13-4 edge in shots and a 6-0 lead.
Amira Solomon scored the first goal of the second quarter. Willoughby scored from
Gracie Horton with five minutes left in the frame. Even with the two goals, the Eagles trailed 10-2 at halftime. Natasha Challou made 10 of her fifteen saves in the first half.
The Eagles scored two of the first three goals in the second half to trim the Alvernia lead to seven at 11-4 with seven minutes to play in the third. Horton opens the second-half scoring with her 19th of the year. Willoughby scored her 27th of the season six minutes later. Wallace set up both goals.
Wallace tucked home her 19th of the year with five and a half minutes to play. The sophomore midfielder finished with three draw controls and three caused turnovers. Easter won 11 of the 24 draws in the match.
Alvernia put away the final goal of the game as time expired.
The Eagles (2-10, 0-5) will play a non-league contest at Wilkes on Monday before traveling to Widener and Hood to wrap up the season.
