ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - Eastern Flag Football put together its most complete performance of the season on Saturday afternoon, dominating on both side of the football in a 54-0 win over the Keane University Cougars. The Eagles scored six touchdowns on offense and another two on defense in its 11th win of the season and their fourth win on their home field.
After throwing an interception on the Eagles' first offensive possession,
Kira Green went to have one of the best games of her young career. The Lancaster native completed 14 of her 19 passes for 160 yards and a season-best four touchdowns.
Damiyae Moyet scored a season-best three touchdowns on six catches for 63 yards, while first-year
Kyla Massenburg scored three touchdowns - two on the ground and one through the air.
Trinity Upton, who was one of two Eagles' honored on Senior Day, had a career day on defense. The graduate from Sayreville, N.J. recorded four interceptions, including a pick six, to help the Eagles record its ninth shutout win of the season.
Stephanie White also recorded a pick six, her second on the home turf, and Massenburg led the Eastern defense with five tackles.
Eastern scored its first touchdown of the game on its second offensive possession. On fourth-and-goal, Green lofted a perfect pass to an open Moyet in the back of the end zone to put the Eagles ahead. From there, the rout was on. After Upton's first interception ended the Cougars' first drive of the second quarter, Massenburg and Moyet scored touchdowns on back-to-back possessions to put the Eagles ahead 19-0 at the halftime break.
The Eagles kept the pedal down in the second half. Upton's third interception of the day went for a pick six, and Moyet scored her third receiving touchdown, this one from 17 yards out, to make it 40-0 Eastern. Massenburg scored her third touchdown on the ground late in the fourth quarter to make it 47-0, and White put the icing on the cake with a 15-yard interception return for a score.
Eastern will play its final home tri-match this coming Thursday against Immaculata and Holy Family. The games begin at 1:00 pm.
