Women's Lacrosse Falls to Delaware Valley

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - Eastern Women's Lacrosse dropped a 20-9 decision to the Delaware Valley Aggies on a sunny and windy Saturday at Olson Field. The visitors (2-2) scored 11 of their 20 goals in the opening frame en route to their 11-goal win. Morgan Wallace finished with three goals for the Eagles (1-2), while Ava Weiman, Gracie Horton, and Natalia Willoughby each scored twice.

Delaware Valley's Ashley Birmingham netted a hat trick in the first seven minutes as the Aggies scored the first six goals of the game. Eastern got on the board late in the period as Weiman and Wallace each potted a pair of man-up goals. The Aggies took control from there, creating excellent scoring chances and putting them away on a consistent basis. Delaware Valley scored the next 10 goals to increase its advantage to 16-2 with 4:23 to play in the first half.

The Eagles scored the last two goals of the first half. Weiman scored her second man-up goal of the half, before Porton scored her first of the day with 34 seconds remaining.

Willoughby scored Eastern's lone goal in the third frame, and the Eagles outscored the Aggies 4-0 in the final frame, but Eastern's early deficit proved too much to overcome.

Wallace and Willoughby each finished with eight draw controls. Sean Rodgers recorded eight ground balls to lead the Eagles on the defensive end. She, Willoughby, and Addyson Whitaker all finished with two caused turnovers.

Eastern will be back in action next Wednesday against Neumann. Opening draw control is set for 4:00 in Aston.
