ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - Eastern Women's Flag Football continued its recent dominance, winning its fifth straight game on Wednesday night in a 20-0 win over Holy Family. It was the first home game in program history, Eastern's fifth straight win, and its third shutout win in its last five games. Eastern scored all three touchdowns in the first half, and the defense shined its first ever home action.
After both teams traded possession, Eastern struck first on a five-yard touchdown run from first-year quarterback Kira Green. Green completed eight passes for 102 yards and a touchdown, and was also Eastern's leading rusher with 39 carries on eight carries.
Eastern's defense forced a turnover on downs to begin the second quarter, and the Eagles again struck, this time through the air. On 2nd-on-1 from midfield, Green threw a perfect strike to Damiyae Moyet, who scampered 36 yards untouched to the end zone, putting the Eagles ahead 13-0.
The Eagles' defense put an exclamation point on the win. Two play after Moyet's touchdown, Sanej Tyler intercepted a Jalissa Dales pass at midfield and ran it all the way back for a pick six, putting the Eagles ahead 20-0.
From that moment on, the Eastern defense took over. Dominique Geiger recorded an interception, and the Eagles forced a turnover on downs and a punt on the Tigers' final two drives.
Moyet led the Eastern receving core with 81 yards on four receptions to go along with her touchdown. Defensively, Kyla Massenburg led Eastern with seven tackles, while Jeriyah Johnson collected six.
Eastern is back in action on Wednesday at University of Delaware. Game is set to begin at 6:30 pm.
