ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - Eastern University Men's Tennis opened its spring season and a tough and seasoned LVC squad, dropping a 7-0 decision to the Dutchmen. Much like the women yesterday, the Eagles played several competitive matches throughout the afternoon and early evening.
Though the Eagles did not secure in doubles play due to doubles only counting as one point, the Eagles did earn a win at No. 3 doubles as
Ethan Goonewardene and
Joshua Pavao grinded out a 7-5 victory over LVC's Colin Brusse and Grant Rowe. The duo of
Jeffrey Day and
Peter Folga, together with
Jeremy Brown and the debuting
Jared Groff, earned a pair of win at No. 1 and 2 doubles, but ultimately fell 6-2.
Day played a strong match at No. 1 singles, earning a 6-4 win in the second game after dropping game one. However, Zach Schrader of LVC earned a 6-3 in the decisive final game to win the match. Folga took four games from Jake Erb at No. 2 singles, but fell 6-4, 6-1. Pavao also secured six wins at No. 6 singles, but could not overcome Vincent Thompson in an eventual 6-2, 6-4 defeat. The Eagles have not scored a point against LVC since the 2020-2021 season.
Eastern will be back in action this weekend at Neumann. First serve is scheduled for 12 noon.
