ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Tennis opened its spring season with big challenge against a deep squad from Lebanon Valley College. While the Eagles did not take a match off their former MAC Commonwealth foe, there were several matches with extended rallies and very competitive points.

Anisah Smith and Trinity Gruber dropped their doubles match 6-3. Gruber played a lengthy first set and battled in the second before falling by a 6-3,6-2 score at first singles. Smith dropped her singles match 6-2, 6-2 at the fourth spot.

The match, according to the Eastern coaching staff presented a good test for the Eagles before heading into MAC Commonwealth competition. Mary Brusstar played several very competitive points at second singles, and Kiley McHugh extended several games in her match at the sixth spot.

The Eagles have not taken a point off the Dutchmen in their last six meetings. In the last test between the two sides, LVC only dropped three total games in the nine matches.

The Eagles hope the challenge of today will help them as they host Neumann on Saturday. The Eagles earned a hard-fought non-league win against the Knights to end the fall season.
