Women's Tennis Bests LBC for Second Win

LANCASTER, Pa. - Eastern Women's Tennis picked up its second win of the season, and its second victory in its past three matches, with a hard-fought 4-3 win over the Lancaster Bible Chargers on Wednesday afternoon. After picking up a pair of wins by forfeit, the Eagles won at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 singles to earn the victory.

Trinity Gruber earned her first win of the season at No. 1 singles, beating Sierra Hartmann 6-4, 6-1. At No. 3 singles, Anisah Smith played a great match, losing just four games in a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Jania West. It was the first win for Smith this season.

Mary Brusstar earned the crucial fourth point with an impressive win over LBC's Natalie Hoover at No. 2 singles. After winning the first set 6-1, Hoover countered with a 6-2 win in the second set. In the tiebreaker, Brusstar pulled away, winning 10-6 to earn her first win of her collegiate career.

"It was a great match by both teams," Eastern Head Coach Harrison Bitzberger said. "We battled through some tough matches to earn this win."

Eastern opens its conference season against Hood College this coming Saturday in St. Davids. First serve is set for 12 noon.
