ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– In their final non-league tune-up before heading into MAC Competition, Eastern University Men's Volleyball used solid serving and a balanced attack to sweep the visiting Gallaudet University Bison.
Connor Tucholski pounded out a match-high eight kills and added four blocks to lead the Eagles in the three set win.
Kaodi Wokocha did not have a kill in the 25-18 first set win, but the first-year outside hitter delivered two aces and put together a big serving run to push the Eagles to a 15-7 lead.
Aaron Birkmire served for a couple points to put the Eagles up 20-12 and
Symir Byrd delivered an ace for a 22-13 lead before the Eagles were able to side-out to win the opening frame.
The Bison (0-8) were on their heels for much of the second set.
Ronan Landis, Wokocha, and Max Baileo each put together serving runs with aces early to put the Eagles up 14-4.
Tyler Younger delivered the final two kills of the set for a 25-9 win.
The Eastern coaching staff juggled the line-up for the third set, but the Eagles still hit .296 in the frame. Landis had six assists and Birkmire had four on the way to a 25-14 win.
For the match, all nine hitters who played recorded at least one kill.
Josh Hrabosky had three assists in the first set. Ben Beyer had five kills to lead the Bison.
The Eagles (11-5) are at Messiah University for their league-opener on Saturday. The Eagles will also take on Randolph College in a non-league match after playing the host Falcons.
