ANNVILLE, Pa— Eastern University Women's Volleyball (12-5) saw a late-lead in the fourth set disappear and rally in the fifth set fall short in a five-set loss at Lebanon Valley College. Hannah Pringle led four Eagles in double-figure kills with 16 and Viviana Fragoso finished with a match-high 19 digs.

In a game with close margins, the Eagles actually won one more point than their hosts, but Lebanon Valley (6-11) found points at critical moments to beat the Eagles for the second time since 2003. It was the second five-set match in 24 hours for the Eagles. Eastern beat Misericordia in five last night.

In many ways, the opening set told the story of the match. The two teams stood even at 18 before the Dutchmen put the Eagles out of system with aggressive serving. The Eagles stopped the run momentarily, but the Dutchmen were able to sideout to a 25-21 win.

The Eagles hit .258 in the set, but it was not enough to overcome two LVC aces and three blocks.

Eastern also ran out of substitutes in the second and third sets but had big enough leads to win 25-18 and 25-21. Jessie Schreiber, who had served twice in her career before today, served for the set in both sets the Eagles won.

The Eagles hit .292 and had five blocks in the in the second set, snd served for four aces in winning the third.

Eastern led 22-19 in the fourth, but again they got stuck in a rotation with front-row players in the back.Down 24-22, the Eagles stopped the run momentarily with a kill from Alexis Standford, but they could not score on serve to extend the set.

The Dutchmen rode that momentum into the start of the fifth. LVC led 8-1 when the teams switched sides. The Eagles ground out a run with Emma Ciesielka serving to pull within two points at 11-9, but the hosts were to earn sideout points and end the match with a big block.

Josie Arezina had five kills on five attacks in the fifth set. The first-year opposite finished with a career-high 12 kills.  Standford finished with 12 kills and Schreiber added 10. The Eagles return to MAC Commonwealth play at Alvernia on Wednesday.
