OWINGS MILLS, Md.— Eastern University Field Hockey (7-7, 0-3) dropped a Friday evening MAC Commonwealth contest to the No. 20 Stevenson University Mustangs (13-2, 2-1) by a 4-0 score.
The host Mustangs took a lead on a goal in the third minute, but neither team took a shot for the rest of the opening frame.
Angelina Catania turned away a pair of shots early in the second, but Stevenson doubled the lead on a penalty stroke midway through the frame. Though the Eastern defense held Stevenson to only seven first-half shots, the Eagles were not able to generate quality time in the Stevenson circle for a shot or a penalty corner.
The Mustangs scored their third on a penalty corner as time expired in the third quarter and added a fourth in the early moments of the fourth. Stevenson finished with a 12-3 edge in penalty corners.
The Eagles will host the Albright College Lions on Wednesday afternoon.
