READING, Pa.— After falling in overtime in the MAC Commonwealth opener, Eastern University Field Hockey (7-6, 0-2) dropped a 6-1 decision under the lights at Alvernia. The Golden Wolves (6-8, 1-1) scored three goals in the second quarter to break open the game.

Alvernia went up on a rebound goal in the first quarter and doubled the lead early int he second on another put-back attempt. The Golden Wolves added two goals late in the half to hold a 4-0 lead at the intermission.

Eastern had a 9-7 edge in shots and an 8-2 edge in penalty corners in the second half, but the Alvernia lead grew to 6-0 on a goal in the third and a goal in the fourth. Late in the contest, Karlee Howard slammed a rebound into the top of the cage on a penalty corner for her ninth goal of the year.

The Eagles are at Stevenson on Friday before hosting Albright next Wednesday. In the Albright game, the  Eagles will be playing to raise awareness for Breast Cancer with their Pink Out game.
