Women's Soccer Falls to LVC

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - Eastern Women's Soccer recorded several scoring chances throughout Wednesday afternoon's clash with the Lebanon Valley Dutchmen at Olson Field, but could not find the back of the net in a 1-0 loss. It was Eastern's first loss of the season after a 4-0-2 start. Darrian Berkheimer's tally off a rebound late in the first half proved to be all that was needed.

LVC controlled much of the play in the first half and were rewarded for their efforts in the 40th minute of play. Abrielle Miller's original shot was saved, but Berkheimer was there to deposit the rebound and give LVC the 1-0 lead.

Eastern junior midfielder Emma Bennett had a brilliant chance in the opening five minutes in the match, but her shot glanced off the top of the crossbar and out of play. The Eagles only recorded three shots in the opening 45 minutes.

Eastern controlled play early after the halftime break with six of their 12 second half shots coming in the first 15 minutes. Shots by Billinda Leisner and Bridget Hitchner were swept aside by LVC goalkeeper Camryn Porter, while four other shots sailed harmlessly out of play. The Eagles had a few more chances later in the second half, including several restarts from advantageous positions, but could not find the equalizer.

Mia Zucker led the Eagles with four shots, while Leisner, Bennett, and Olivia Nicholson each finished with three.

Eastern will be back in action this weekend at Lancaster Bible College. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
