ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– Eastern University Men's Tennis dropped its season-season opening match to the visiting Arcadia University Knights. The Eagles did not claim a match win against their opponents from the MAC Freedom, but the home side extended several matches in the loss.
Jeffrey Day and
Peter Folga played well in an 8-6 loss at the first doubles spot. Folga won his opening set before falling 7-4 in the second-set tiebreaker and 10-7 in the super-tiebreaker. Day jumped to an early lead in his match, but he fell 7-5, 7-5 at the top spot.
Jeremy Brown extended his opening set to an 8-6 loss in the tiebreaker.
"This was a good start for us," Head Coach
Harrison Bitzberger said after the match. "The heat made it a little tough and it was our first match of the year. We will need to work on finishing out close matches."
The Eagles will have two weeks to prepare for their next match, which will be at Kutztown.
