ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - Earlier this spring, Eastern Head Coach Abbey Kemble announced that Brittney Hickernell will join the Eastern University Field Hockey staff for the 2024 season.

"I'm so excited to to have Brittney join our team," Kemble stated. "She's been a tremendous help thus far. I know with her field hockey knowledge and background she's going to be a great addition to our team this upcoming fall season."

Hickernell, a Wernersville native, was a four-year starter in the midfield at Conrad Weiser High School, earning a Pennsylvania Field Hockey Coaches Association All-State selection in 2011. She went on to play in 54 games with 44 starts in the midfield at Lock Haven. She enjoyed her best collegiate campaign in 2014, scoring four goals and eight points in 13 games.

After graduation, Hickernell eventually returned to her alma mater, where she served as the Head Field Hockey Coach from 2021 to 2023. Additionally, she is the club owner and director of The Viper Field Hockey Club in Royersford, where she works to empower young student athletes with field hockey knowledge and understanding. At the Viper Field Hockey Club, she has coached multiple teams to gold medals at several tournaments from 2019 to 2023.

Hickernell will assist in multiple areas of the programs, including game day preparation and player development.
