READING, Pa. - In its series opener against Alvernia at Angelica Park on Friday, Eastern Baseball failed to find much offense in an 8-0 loss to the Golden Wolves. The Eagles finished with just four hits, all singles, and were shut out for the first time this season.
Eastern finished with just six total baserunners, with only two reaching second base. Alvernia starter Chris Sasso kept the Eagles in check all afternoon, allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out nine in his third win of the season. In all, the Eagles struck out 11 times in the loss.
Sophomore first baseman
Luke Meehan led the Eagles with two hits in four at-bats, while
Evan Barks and
Jason Hall each collected one hit apiece.
Eastern (11-11, 4-5) returns to The Yard tomorrow to conclude its season series with Alvernia in a doubleheader. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 12 noon.
