IMMACULATA, Pa. - In its final non-conference match of the season, Eastern Men's Tennis dropped a close 5-4 decision to the Immaculata Mighty Macs on Wednesday. Immaculata took two out of the three matches that went to a third-set tiebreaker, which proved to be the difference.
In doubles play,
Joshua Pavao and
Ethan Goonewardene earned their first win as a team this season, beating Nicholas Brown and Alex Polidoro 8-2.
Peter Folga and
Jacob Craig dropped a close 8-6 decision at No. 2 doubles, and
Jeffrey Day and
Jacob DeVage fell in a tiebreaker, 7-3, at No. 1 doubles.
At No. 2 singles, Day continued his solid sophomore campaign, recording his team-leading seventh victory with a 6-3, 3-6, 10-7 triumph.
Shane Witzer, playing at No. 4 singles, also recorded a win, beating Jeremy Brown 6-3, 6-3. It was the fifth win of the season for Witzer.
Fredy Rodriguez earned Eastern's fourth point at No. 6 singles with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Polidoro.
Eastern (4-9, 2-3) will conclude its 2024 season at home on Saturday in a conference matchup against Stevenson. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
