READING, Pa.– With a spot in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament on the line, Eastern University Men's Tennis lost a tight 7-2 decision at Albright. The Lions (7-7, 3-3) secure the fourth seed in the upcoming tournament.
The two teams split the top two flights at doubles. Jacob Devage and
Jeffrey Day claimed an 8-5 win at the top spot, but the Lions earned an 8-0 win at the second flight.
Ethan Goonewardene and
Jacob Craig stretched their match at third doubles, but the duo came up just short in an 8-5 loss.
Day won handily in a 6-3, 6-1 decision at second singles, but hte Eagles were already down 4-1 in the match before he finished. Goonewardene won his opening set at fifth singles but was forced to play a third-set super-tiebreaker. He fell 10-7.
The Eagles (4-8, 2-3) are at Immaculata tomorrow before hosting Stevenson for the final conference match of the year on Saturday.
