ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - In its penultimate home match of the season, Eastern Men's Tennis dropped a 9-0 decision in a MAC Commonwealth match against the visiting Messiah University Falcons.
Messiah (3-8, 2-0) swept through all three doubles matches.
Jacob DeVage and
Jeffrey Day played an excellent match at No. 1 doubles against Chase Wilson and Tim Schaeffer, but came up two games short in an 8-6 loss.
In singles play, DeVage took five games from Wilson, but dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision. Day also played several well-contested points in a two-set loss to Schaeffer.
Ethan Goonewardene and
Shane Witzer battled at No. 5 and 6 singles, winning a combined eight games, but fell 6-3, 6-2 and 6-3, 6-0, respectively.
Eastern (4-6, 2-2) will be back in action this weekend for a non-league contest against Muhlenberg in Allentown. The match is set to begin at 12 noon.
