FREDERICK, Md. - On Saturday, Eastern Men's Tennis recorded its second conference win of the season in a 6-3 triumph over the Hood College Blazers. Eastern claimed four of the seven matches played, which included impressive wins for sophomore Jeffery Day and first-year
Peter Folga.
Eastern claimed the first two points of the day at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles as Hood only had five players compete. In doubles play, Folga and graduate
Jacob Craig claimed Eastern's second point at No. 2 doubles with an 8-4 triumph over Brady Vlha and Dhane McCloud. It was the first win of the season for the first-time duo.
Day continued his solid sophomore season, collecting Eastern's fourth point and his team-leading fifth singles win of the campaign with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Issac Hatch. For the Kennett Square native, it was also his second conference win of the season.
Junior
Shane Witzer recorded Eastern's fifth and game-winning point. After winning the first set 6-0 at No. 5 singles, his opponent withdrew, giving him his third singles win of the season. Folga, after splitting the first two sets, 6-4 and 4-6, against Vlha, earned a 7-4 victory in the tiebreaker to clinch his fourth singles and second conference triumph.
Eastern (4-5, 2-1) will be back in St. Davids on Wednesday for a conference matchup against Messiah. First serve is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
