ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - In another non-conference contest on Wednesday at The Yard, Eastern Baseball struggled both offensively and defensively in a 15-6 loss to MAC Freedom foe Delaware Valley. The Eagles committed six errors in the contest and only recorded four hits, while giving up nine runs in the sixth and seventh frames.
Delaware Valley (10-14) used a three-run shot by Hank Bielen and a RBI single by James Miskanic to go ahead 4-0 in the third. Eastern cut the lead in half in the bottom of the frame on an RBI triple from
David Hunsberger and a sacrifice fly from
Garrett Friend.
The Aggies pushed their lead back to four with a pair of runs on an Eastern fielding error in the fourth, but Eastern scored two more runs in the bottom of the frame.
Justin DiCesare doubled down the third base line, and later scored on a
Jason Hall sacrifice fly to make it 6-4.
Evan Barks cut the Delaware Valley lead to one on Eastern's third sacrifice fly in the fifth, but that was as close as the Eagles would get. The Aggies went on to score four runs in the sixth and five runs in the seventh, all unearned, to build a 10-run advantage they would not relinquish. Of the 15 runs scored by the Aggies, 11 of them were unearned.
Eastern (12-15) returns to conference play this weekend against Hood. First pitch in Frederick is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
