KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa.– Eastern University got quality pitching from four young arms and put together a couple big innings to earn an 11-1 non-league win over Rosemont College.
Connor Schilling delivered the big blow of the game with a two-out three-run triple int he second inning.
The Eagles (11-8) got five scoreless innings from rookie left-hander
Graham Adams. Adams struck out five and left the game with an eight-run lead. In the second inning, the Eagles put three runners on base without the benefit of a hit. Schilling drove in all three to put the Eagles up and came hoe on a single from
Thomas Kozlusky.
Adams struck out the side in the bottom of the second for a big shutdown inning.
Luke Meehan doubled and scored on a
Jason Hall hit in the fourth to add onto the Eastern lead, and the Eagles would tack on three more in the top of the fifth. Meehan knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly and
Matthew Gonglik delivered single with two outs to drive in two more.
Adams worked around a walk and an error in the fifth before giving way to
Ethan Gwara for two scoreless innings. The Ravens picked up an unearned run on one hit against
Owen DeLong in the 8th before
Kasey Baumgart closed the game with two strikeouts in a scoreless ninth.
The Eagles are slated to host Messiah for the first game of an important MAC Commonwealth series Thursday. The doubleheader in that series is scheduled for Saturday in Grantham.
