ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– In its 2024 season-opening game, Eastern University Women's Lacrosse scored a pair of early goals but dropped a 14-3 decision to the visiting Arcadia University Knights (1-1). Sophomore goalie
Marcianna Tavani made nine saves and had four caused turnovers in her Eastern debut.
Ninety seconds in,
Morgan Wallace opened the scoring with a powerful shot from close range. After the Knights equalized, the Eagles took a timeout to set up the attack.
Emerson Shauger put the Eagles up 2-1.
With Tavani making saves and the Eastern defense creating turnovers, the Eagles generated several stops. They struggled in the clearing game through the middle part of the game and the Knights led 7-2 at half and 12-2 after three periods. The Eastern attack was able to build possessions, but the Eagles struggled to get into scoring spaces against the Arcadia defense.
Shauger found
Emily Stiles for the final Eastern goal of the game. Wallace and Shauger each had three draw controls in the game.
The Eagles will play at Notre Dame of Maryland University next Wednesday.
