FREDERICK, Md.– Eastern University Field Hockey had a 20-10 edge in second-half shots, but a quick start from the host Hood College Blazers proved to be too mach as the Eagles dropped a 3-1 league test.
Morgan Unruh scored Eastern's only goal in the match.
The Blazers (9-6, 2-2) scored on two of their first three shots to lead 2-0 only nine minutes into the contest. Though the Eagles had three first-quarter penalty corners, they could not draw closer before the first break. Both teams took five shots in the scoreless second quarter.
Though the Eagles controlled a lot of the action and had a 10-6 edge in third-quarter shots, the Blazers scored late in the frame to build a 3-0 lead. The Eagles (5-9, 0-3) grabbed a little hope with a goal on their 14th penalty corner of the contest.
CJ Summa picked up the assist on the goal.
The Eagles will host Stevenson on Wednesday at 3:30.
