ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - On Thursday, Eastern Rocket League, despite a pair of valiant effort, dropped a pair of matches to the University of Maryland and the University of Western Ontario by scores of 3-1 and 3-0, respectively.
In a fierce battle in the opener, the Eagles and Terrapins went back and forth trading blows throughout the best-of-five series. Each match was decided by a single goal. Junior
Nicholas Ciampaglio was the catalyst once again for Eastern, capitalizing on the pressure generated by his teammates and scoring several key goals to keep the Eagles close.
"We can take pride on our performance," Eastern Head Coach Joshua Franklin said. "They competed at a high level against a talented Maryland team. With more luck, we would have come out on top."
In its second match of the night, the first two games were separated by only one goal.
Matthew Giunta starred on defense, making several clutch saves, but the Eagles were unable to capitalize on their defensive efforts.
The Eagles will be back in action next Thursday against Champlain College at 7:00 pm.
