Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Late Rally Falls Short for Women's Lacrosse at Arcadia

GLENSIDE, Pa. – Eastern University Women's Lacrosse scored eight times in the final twenty-three minutes of the match, but it was not enough as they dropped a 19-5 decision at Arcadia University. Caitlyn Quizon scored four times and Ellie Pruitt added three goals and an assist.

The Knights took maximum advantage of their possessions as they turned a 20-to-10 edge in first-half shots  into a 12-1 halftime lead. Quizon scored Eastern's lone goal of the first half on a. Feed from Emerson Shauger late in the first quarter. The Eagles had an 11-to-4 edge in first-half draw controls, but  Arcadia goalie Emily Griffith made five stops and the Eagles had 11 turnovers.

The Knights scored the first three goals of the second half before the Eastern rally began.

Pruitt scored on a rebound midway through the third and then added a second less than two minutes later. Quizon scored her second on an assist from Gracie Horton with less than a minute to play in the third quarter.

The Eagles took advantage of an Arcadia turnover to regain possession early in the fourth and Horton scored on a pass from Quizon. Teresa Gailey controlled the next draw and Horton found Kaleigh Hess-Davila to stop the clock. Alyse Hand controlled the next draw and Quizon converted on a pass from Pruitt with 11 minutes to play.

The Knights were able to get possession and run some clock, but the Eagles struck again with 6:25 on the clock as Quizon put away her fourth of the day on a pass from Gailey. The Eagles fired 10 fourth-quarter shots and finished the game with a 20-19 edge in shots on goal.

Gailey led the team with six draw controls and Shauger had four draw controls and three caused turnovers.

"It was a total second-half effort," Head Coach Mikala Gillespie said after the game. "The Arcadia offense was on fire first half. We made some adjustments on both sides of ball and capitalized on a push off the draw. Quizon and Pruitt were huge - we got their hands free and in places to shoot. They finished. Our fight for ground balls and draw controls made the difference. We will build off this."

The Eagles will host Immaculata on Saturday at 11:00 am
