Men's Lacrosse Earns Second Win in Texas

GEORGETOWN, Texas– After scoring the final two goals of the first half, Eastern University Men's Lacrosse scored the first six goals of the second half to build a 17-7 lead over the host Southwestern University Pirates. Eleven different Eastern players scored on the way to a 22-10 win. The Eagles swept their spring break games in Texas.

Avery Porter scored the first two goals in the in the opening two and a half minutes of the second half. Gavin Stark set up the first goal, and Nicholas  Fanelli set up the second with his third assist of the afternoon.

Forty-one seconds later, Connor Bachman put away his third of four. Stark picked up his third helper on the play. Nicholas Fanelli scored on a pass from his brother for a 15-7 lead. Thirty Seconds later, Christopher Fanelli put away his third goal. It only took thirty more seconds for the Eagles to go up 17-7. Lucas Trudel scored his second of the afternoon on a man-up goal assisted by Porter.

The Eagles did not tally in the final six minutes of the third, but they did score five in the fourth. Bachman, Nick Litzenberger, Jason Poole, Stark, and Ryan Williamson all converted for the Eagles in the final frame.

Eastern (2-2) scored three times in the opening 3:13 of the game, but the Pirates (3-1) answered with a pair of goals in a two-minute stretch. Brady Palmer provided an answer almost immediately. Patrick McClain won the faceoff and Palmer, a sophomore LSM, converted his first career goal. McClain went 16-of-26 at the X for the day.

Christopher Fanelli scored twice in the waning moments of the first quarter and Bachman scored his seconds with 22 seconds left.

Nicholas Ciampaglio scored his first career goal on the opening faceoff the second period and Nick Litzenberger tallied less than a minute later for a 9-3 edge.

The Pirates, who came into the game without a loss,  found their offensive rhythm for a four-goal run. To pull within two goals at 9-7. Stark scored from Litzenberger with three minutes left in the half and Trudel gave the Eagles a little more margin with a man-up tally in the final minute. The Eagles were 3-of-5 on man-up chances in the game.

Ethan Myers made 15 saves in 55 minutes. Zachary Klym came on and made three saves in the final five minutes.

The Eagles will host Arcadia University next Saturday.
